Echo is the main character in The Alchemaster's Apprentice. His owner was an old woman, named Floria of Ingotville, who had found him in a bush of cratmint. She died and the new owners of the house kicked Echo out. He then starved on the streets for some time until Succubus Ghoolion found him and made a deal with him. The contract says that Ghoolion will feed and entertain Echo until a month is over and then Echo must give Ghoolion his body fat.
